So how many people are self employed? The true answer is that were all self-employed. The biggest mistake that we can make is to think that we work for someone else. You are self-employed from the moment you take your first job until you retire. You are the president of your own personal services corporation, which is a legal entity. You are the president of an entrepreneurial company with 1 employee, your self. You only have one product to sell throughout your life and that is your own personal services.
All fortunes begin with the sale of personal services because that is all you have at the beginning. You go out in the market place and all you have is your ability to work. Now the next question is where do you go from there? Your job through out your life is to sell the highest quality and quantity of your personal services. As president of your own personal services company you are responsible 100% for every part of your business. You’re responsible for production. You will always be rewarded in direct proportion to the value of your production. You have a responsibility for quality and control. You’re responsible for marketing and sales. In other words you’re responsible for getting a good job, marketing your self and moving ahead. You’re responsible for your finances. You’re also responsible for research and development, which means upgrading your skills and abilities. Simply getting better at what you do is your responsibility.
Now if your saying “I don’t want to invest in myself” which is your own personal and professional development, than what your saying unconsciously to your self is that you have no future. Now, you don’t mean to be that way, but people who don’t invest in themselves have no future. You are then saying to yourself that “I’m not a good investment.” Put another way, people who don’t invest in themselves have in fact given up on themselves.
All your hopes and dreams for your future, your family and children’s future depend upon your ability to do your job well and continually get better. There is no other way to improve your future except to get better. Achieving excellence will save you years of hard work and frustration. Being the best at what you do will simply change your life.
If you believe in yourself and your future, you must dedicate to yourself to lifelong learning, to continuous improvement. There is no other way to improve the quality of your life except for you to get better at the things that you do.
Napoleon Hill, the author of Think and Grow Rich, studied the most successful people and came to these conclusions.
- All top people had certain qualities and skills in common.
- None of them started with any of these skills and qualities. Many of them were impoverish, with no educations, coming from farm backgrounds with no friends and no contacts.
- All of these traits and skills were learnable.
- He also came up with another fact and that was all successful people are decisive. They were able to evaluate the information and simply make the decision to do or not to do something.
Did you know that the top 20% of companies in profitability invest 3% or more in their revenues in training and development in their people? Also, the top 20% of individuals invest the same 3% in their personal development and training.
When you make the decision to invest in yourself, the whole world will benefit.
Be Well,
