There is a difference between goal setting and goal achieving.
So when we examine the philosophy with regard to goal setting, we’re talking about so much more than just making a list of goals with a date of when we want them. Goal setting is a conscious activity, it’s an intellectual activity and it is a skill that can be developed and it’s a process that requires a great deal of care and attention.
Now goal achieving, is a lawful process and so being successful in this process really begins with understanding the process, understanding the laws at work, specifically the Law of Attraction and Vibration. In a nutshell, how we work, and how the universe works.
So if we understand how these laws work, the chances of us achieving our goals are significantly increased.
Now for example, I’ll use rain to point out the difference between the dissipated and the concentrated power of energy. If it rains over a wide area of the countryside the rain has very little impact does it? But if that same amount of water is collected together into a stream, that stream can be used to turn a mill which can generate tremendous amounts of harnessed energy. Now it’s the same water, same energy, but when channeled towards a specific purpose, it can be tremendously powerful and bring about very powerful results. Clearly a decision needs to be made first of all as to the purpose to direct the force, but if this decision is made, then the difference in the results is enormous.
Well, the same is true of our energies. If we direct our energies towards a specific purpose rather than allowing them to dissipate on whatever catches our attention at that moment, then the difference in our results can be enormous.
So goal setting and goal achieving is very powerful. Now this process starts with establishing a purpose. An over-arching objective or direction or ideal for our entire life. Purpose can add order and meaning to our life.
So establishing a purpose gives us a clear direction for our life. But it also gives us a great decision making framework. In fact, many of the decisions that we will need to face have already been made, the moment we commit to our purpose.
Now the next step, after having identified our purpose is then to map out a vision. Our vision is how we are going to live our purpose. It’s the action activities that we can take to live our purpose.
Once we’ve identified our purpose and once we’ve identified our vision then, and only then, can we begin to set the goals that will start to fulfill that vision. The goals are the stepping stones along the way. They are a small bite out of the vision. Our vision is made out of an endless string of shorter term goals. Each one leading to the next.
So let’s review what was just mentioned. Your purpose is living your life, doing the things we love to do, getting better and better at them over our life time and providing more and more service as a result. Our vision is how we live our purpose and goals are the shorter term steps that make up our vision. The clearer we are on what we want to do, the more of our actions relate to that direction and so the more order we introduce into our lives. That order then can not help but be expressed in our results. Greater order equal greater results.
